Are you in Japan and just tired of that normal, boring latte. You might even crave a Flower Pot latte?
W/O stand (pronounced as Double Oh stand) is a popular coffee shop in Japan and a must visit! I have yet to read about it anywhere other than Japanese blogs though, so I guess it’s a bit of an insider tip.
You can find the coffee shop branches in various Japanese cities such as Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Fukuoka, Kobe & Hiroshima.
I visited several different ones and loved the quirkiness of the interiors and drinks.
The concept

The cafés are hip and trendy and feature a few different and fun gimmicks. Each branch is decorated uniquely, incorporating local characteristics.
Their signature “Uncle” logo also changes according to which branch you are in. I am yet to find out what the meaning behind the “Uncle” design is. Maybe it’s just supposed to be funny.
One of the things I loved most, design-wise, are the doors in vending machine style. They quickly became Instagram favourites. Especially at the Osaka, Shinsaibashi and Hiroshima branch! I am actually in love with that pink door.

The menus & drinks.
You have the normal drink menu with coffees, lattes and espressos. All the drinks are around 350 Yen (around 3 pounds) for an Espresso up to 600 Yen (around 5.50) for a Caramel Macchiato. It’s not cheap but quite normal for Japanese coffee shop prices.
On top of that, the flavours are good and the Espresso is strong which is something that often isn’t often the case in Japan.
Apart from the normal menu, there are special drinks such as floats and limited edition items. One of the popular drinks is the Yuzu (citrus fruit) lemonade which I loved. If you’re in Japan, try some Yuzu flavoured drinks, you won’t regret it!

As for the Special Menu, I tried their limited Edition “Flower Pot latte” and loved it. It looks really cute and tastes good, too. It was a hard item to get your hands on it though and just seemed to be constantly sold out.
Bottle Drinks

Their bottled drinks are popular and the flavours change regularly. I quite like how the design resembles shampoo bottles.
As for the drink itself, the top is usually flavoured milk or coffee while the bottom has more of a jelly consistency. They are sold in a few different sizes.
